Nice to see a 'big up' for Herman Hertzberger! We were introduced to his work on various occasions at college and, a couple of years ago, he came in person to speak at the annual gathering of local architects.

His work is not everyone's ideal. I remember one of his young trendy compatriots at a college talk describing him as a 'fascist', presumably for the way Hertzberger often defines where and how you should use a space. On the contrary, I quite like the way he uses podiums, steps, shelves and other features to invite appropriation and suggest a use.
