David Chipperfield has a restrained, thoughtful style that captures both subtlety and sophistication in a simple expression of light and surface. The 2008 RIBA award for the BBC Scotland at Pacific Quay, Glasgow was an understated masterpiece of modernism. I am infatuated with the Neues Museum in Berlin and the Figge in Davenport, Iowa. Although I have not seen any of his building's in person, his refinement is clear and powerful and deserving of the honor bestowed upon him by RIBA.
