Blinking drag

Postby pbacot » Sun Jun 13, 2010 2:44 pm

When I drag an object the screen image of it blinks rapidly and seeminly erratically. It's very annoying.
Is there a setting I can fix this with (system or PC?) I have tried high quality drags , but it looks the same. Don't have this sort of problem with other software, including older PC. Version 8.1.2.

Same thing here Peter. It seems to get worse with bitmap objects too- especially things like jpeg images in drawings.
I tried opening PC7- it crashes shortly after launch every time (running OSX 10.6.3) but PC6 still runs and doesn't flicker when dragging.

I checked a file that has a sheet of color jpegs (photos). I don't get the blinking when I drag any of the jpegs..... but I am not sure I am replicating your actions.

I am running PC 8 on the iMac.

Phansford, Draw a circle and move it by dragging it across the screen, holding the mouse down.

If you fill the circle in black and then drag it around, you should see a smooth grey circle as you drag. What you get is a strobe effect.

pbacot and David....

Drew a circle...... grabbed and drag.... seems okay.

Filled the circle with black..... again ... seems okay

Neither time did the object blink. I get a slight shade at the trailing edge if a drag quickly.... but no blinking.

What size is your file?

The file I did the circle on is 384 KB (small 2 sheet porch addition)
The file with jpegs is 19.5 MB.

Other apps open - safari, mail, itunes, preview, pages, word.
I hope I am helping .......

I got it.

Long crosshairs on= blinking object.

Long crosshairs off= fairly solid and smooth.

Unfortunately I'm a bit attached to the long crosshairs.\

Thanks for the help. Got me thinking about it in different ways.

Peter....

Checked it with the long crosshairs and got the blinking.

I don't use them....so that explains why I wasn't a whole lot of help earlier. Can't tell you why I don't use
