Continuing with this idea that the universe oscillates let's imagine again what was occurring before the big bang.

At some point expansion of the universe stops and matter begins contracting. We know black holes form and it appears they may grow larger over time so it may be this late stage universe is essentially a collection of supper massive black holes.

Eventually the largest one will form at the gravitational center of our universe and like a drain the other black holes will be sucked into it. Since everything seems to follow a circular path these black holes will spin faster and faster around this central gravity well colliding with each other and breaking apart before joining it.

A lot of energy will be released which will not be trapped (the same as modern black holes (quasars) So that even as most of the matter in the universe is being pulled in some is also being ejected.

Maybe something prevents a stable black hole containing all the matter in the universe from forming? Maybe there is a limit to how big a black hole can be? This causes this black hole to explode some time before all matter is incorporated into it.

This is really the same thing as a volcano which may take 100's of thousands of years to build enough pressure to overcome gravity.

In this large black hole which contains most of the matter in the known universe this matter is compressed to a very high density (maybe Planck's density?)

At some point outward pressure overcomes gravity and the matter explodes (expands) At first this expansion is exponential. Mater is not only moving away from the center but being free of the strong gravitational field each particle also expands.

This moment is called the inflationary period and last for a fraction of a second.

The more I read about it the more I realize that we don't really know anything about the universe -past or present. The Big Bang and every other model is just a guess. We don't really even know if the universe is expanding.

Science may never be able to answer the question -Why do we exist? This will most likely remain the domain of philosophy.

This does not mean cosmology is a waste of effort though. We are discovering new things we just don't always know what they mean.

All theories break down at the moment that something emerges from nothing. All we can know for sure is that the universe always held the potential for life otherwise we would not be here.

The fact that we look for purpose in life in itself infers that we do have a purpose. That purpose is to achieve perfection.

Lately I have been considering that there may be another force governing the motion of the universe which is stronger than gravity.

And that is that energy moves from hot to cold. Maybe this forces the matter which we can observe to accelerate into empty space.

The problem I have with this is that when matter has finally expanded uniformly what force would cause it to change from that state of uniformity?

If there where no temperature gradient what would power the process? This seems to require some inherent instability in the fabric of space. Which now that I think about it, I may have considered before and then dismissed it as being too complicated.
