Looking for ideas to make use of 100 sqft space

City permits (Calif/USA) 100 sqft additional space. This will be next to kitch/family room- 3 sides facing outsice and one side joined to kitchen/family room. I would like to add 1/2 bath (toilet/basin) and create some sitting space. Open to adding 100 sqft on top (that's allowed). Need ideas on making max spcae usage on 2nd floor consdering I have to put a stairtcase to access that floor. I am open to any shape (square,oval,etc) as long as I can maximize space utilizatioon. Any ideas?

Just because you can add 100 ft to the 2nd floor, doesn't mean you should.

Just put a roof over your first floor addition.
