hi everyone,
i am presently working on use of styrofoam and resin for mass housing in nigeria,pls i am new to the styrofoam,the raw materials,production processes,machinery e.t.c
i will appreciate further contribution on this.

This technology is being used in Norway quite a bit. They mix a type h cement with eps beads and modifier the mix with CPR1000 polymer. It decreases the weight of the concrete by about 70% yet you can still drive on the surface unsupported.

Interesting concept. I wouldn't have used styrofoam for the entire house myself, but I'm not engineer :wink:

I noticed the video was from 2005, does anyone know how the company is doing now?

yes look in this months Architectural Record they feature a whole warehouse being made to make Panels for this purpose in Iran.

engineering for this monolithic building system is done in FEA.

I think this is a great usage of this product and I would like to see it used in third world countries and for disaster victims all over the world as emergency shelter. I am working with a local distributor of bamboo to create mass produced modular housing units for a similar purpose. We have also been experimenting with using bamboo as scaffolding and rebar as well.
