Converting Natl Reg of Historic Places into Archiplanet

Postby rasherman » Tue Jun 12, 2007 10:46 am

Can you tell me how the National Register of Historic Places data was converted into Archiplanet? Is it done via an open source conversion tool, a wiki plug-in, custom code or something else?

Any guidance you can provide is greatly appreciated as we have a database of place name information that we're considering converting to a wiki.

It was done by converting the NRHP databases from Microsoft Access format to MySQL and then exporting the MySQL to wikitext format and doing bulk imports of the data.

It was all done with custom written code that would not be useful for other projects.

To see the format for importable wikitext of multiple pages simply use the Special:Export page and enter more than one page name.
