Experience with online lens rental services?

Postby David Owen » Thu Oct 08, 2009 1:24 pm

I've been researching online lens rental services to shore up the gaps in my lens collection for my Nikon D50, and it seems like there are several pretty good options, with slightly different policies. So I'm wondering if anyone has experience with any of these services:

http://www.rentglass.com/

http://www.lensprotogo.com/

http://www.cameralensrentals.com/

http://www.lensrentals.com/

RentGlass.com certainly seems to have the best policies from my point of view (especially compared with my local pro photo supply shops). For instance, the idea of no deposit is pretty appealing. But I wonder if there's a catch or if the lens quality is comparatively low.

There also seem to be subtle variations in pricing and other terms between the four mentioned. I'd love some insight into what you're getting (or not) for the rental fees, if anyone has that kind of insight.

This question has come up again, and I'm wondering if anyone has a favorite lens rental service?

Esp. interested in Canon lens rentals, L series, EF or EFS... daily, weekly, etc?
