recommended wide angle lenses?
Can anyone recommend a good wide angle lens for photographing tight indoor spaces?

Two great lenses for tight spaces are the Nikon 24 PCE, a shift and tilt lens.
This is a great lens for stitching images for a wide view. The alternate is the Nikon 14-24MM zoom. It is a higher resolution lens than the fixed 14MM that Nikon makes. There is a bit of barrel distortion at the 14MM setting, but it is easily corrected in CS4. For examples, go to my web site adweckphoto.com and select the images for the Comcast Center lobby.

My favorite lens is the 24mm pc-e lens by Nikon but it can be costly if you're starting out. If I was just starting out and needed good optics but within budget, I would pick a regular 24mm f/2.8. If you're using a smaller sensor camera like the Nikon D300 you will need wider at about 17mm.
Be careful not to go too wide. The images start to get a weird feeling to them when too wide.

And a funny inversion of (historical) perspective in this worthy blog commentary...

I'm currently debating between these two lenses for my Nikon D50:
Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6:
http://www.amazon.com/Sigma-10-20mm-4-5 ... 4EOW0TWZSL
And Tokina AT-XAF124DXN 12-24mm:
http://www.amazon.com/Tokina-AT-XAF124D ... 4EOW0TWZSL
Does anyone have experience with either of these? Pros/cons?
I imagine that there might be a fair amount of barrel distortion in either one at its widest setting. Aside from the digital (Photoshop) manipulation option (which always makes the image look pretty faked to my eye), are there any photographic tricks to compensating for/minimizing the barrel distortion in one of these lenses?
(I'd love a tilt-shift type lens, but that's way outside the realm of possibility for this amateur photographer!)
