I just found this article on the internet

which makes the arguement that photographs of buildings on "permanent public display" are not subject to copyright, however "any photograph of the Eiffel tower at night is subject to the copyright" by virtue of there being a copyright on the temporary features - such as the night-lighting display.

I was wondering if anyone has any more knowledge of how this applies in the UK particularly.
