The historic back bar originated in Wellington, Utah, tended by professional drink servers starting in the early 1900's. The matching front bar is more recent, built by Nordstrom's department store to match the back bar and serve as a set piece in the Salt Lake City retail store.

Both pieces were purchased by the current owner from Brass Key Antiques in Salt Lake City, where the bar had been leased out as a movie prop for several westerns, also appearing in an episode of 'Touched by an Angel'.

From 1997, the paired front and back bar anchored a Main Street coffee shop in the historic coal mining town of Helper, Utah, halfway between SLC and Moab. Since 2009, the back bar has been a highlight in an architect-designed Northwest Regional Modern house in Oregon.
