We have a hard time to find talented designers in Asia. Does anyone know where and how we can find good designers?

I could apply as your Architect (designer) if you provide me my Visa and contract to work with your company. I'll be sending my Resume soon and my sample works.

What type of projects are you looking to get done. You maybe able to find the appropriate architect once you know the building type. There are many web sites that serve as a directory for asian based architects.
There are many talented asian architects. Your question is too general.
I can name you Ken Yeang in Malaysia, Kerry Hill Architects in Singapore, a bunch of japanese architects. Kerry Hill is resort oriented, Ken Yeang does great advant garde sustainable buildings, all the Japanese architects have their own niche or style. So there are lots of talented asian architects. They just don't get a lot of media attention.
Truth of the matter is that many architects can do projects anywhere in the world and not necessarily only in their home base. But if you want somebody within your proximity, then I am very sure you can find them. Just peruse the last few Architecture Record magazine issues.
My friend has a good landscape architecture firm in Shanghai where you are based. You can contact me through my web site if you need their contact info.
Good luck in your search.

Oops. Sorry about my earlier posting. I thought you were looking for architecture firms.
Didn't realise you were looking for employees.
Do what I do, attend the career day at the best design college in your proximity. Or, contact their student resource center and post your want adds.
If you go directly to the college for their career day, you stand a good chance of picking from the top before anyone else has a shot. After graduation, these newbies head directly to big name firms.
If they don't have a career day, ask the college if you can do a presentation or seminar or be a guest lecturer for the day or something like that. You'll be surprised at the number of inquiries you will get later. Normally when they see and know your work, like minded candidates will apply. So you have a better chance of a good fit. Doesn't matter if they are super talented, if the fit isn't good, they'll be gone in a few days or weeks.
If looking for senior people, look for similar firms and look at the people who are producing the designs and getting the work done. Then woo them. The other firm won't appreciate it but this happens all the time. I don't believe in head hunting this way but many firms do.
Best of luck.

could you explain your criteria for " talented designer"?

the final product of design in Asia result from the requirement of the Asian market, which is dramatically different from the American one.

i thk basically 'talented' are base on what the society expect from a product, like, the outlook, or the function or both. it is deeply influence by different culture. from my point of view, designer is more adaptive due to their mind set are not set to be in the box. it is the matters of surrounding that influece a talented designer. as like sony ericsson, in malaysia now is is slowly catching up to - abuse alert - more ppl are using sonyericsson comparing to - abuse alert -......and now u hear more sony ericsson tone....comparing to the famous - abuse alert - tone.

It`s not so difficult.
For example I can tell you that as a Venezuelan architect I worked for 1 year in Several projects in Vietnam. Yes, you heard well, at a place that for me was the other part of the world.
Indeed there is a problem with desdign level and wages.
Any way lets keep in touch.

Hi

I am a post grad student from Greenwich School of Arhcitecture, London. I graduated with First Class Honours and was recently a prize winner in the Corus/Riba Architecture Undergradute Competion.

I have been working for the past 10 years as a creative director in a multimedia design company but in recent years have aspired to migrate my design skills to Architecture.

I am very interested in moving to Asia to work and am therefore equally interested in any opportunity that might be available.

If this is of inerest to you my portfolio is available to review online at http://www.darrenmaryon.com

I look forward to hearing from you in the near future

Kind Regards

Darren
