Hello ! Smile
This is Kiran from Kathmandu, Nepal. I am a fifth year undergraduate of Architecture here in Kathmandu.

My final year thesis is on a Sanskrit college.

Sanskrit is considered to be the most ancient language of the Hindu religion and it also provides significant linguistic roots for other languages like English, Thai, and Chinese etc. Much of the world's most beautiful epic poetry is recorded in Sanskrit, and it also provides access to famous texts such as the Bhagavad Gita giving a perspective on our past.

Nepal, being a Hindu country, needs to preserve the age-old Sanskrit language. A wide understanding of the Sanskrit language will help to preserve the language as well as our culture. Therefore effort must be given to establish well-designed Sanskrit Colleges.

Based on this philosophy, I am carrying out my designs. I would be very grateful if you can share some materials on college design. Any material on any kind of college or school would help a lot!

Thanks in advance.

Kiran.

Hi!
As sanskrit is one of the oldest language and considered very sacred by Hindus so a sanskrit college should also be made reflect that. You can go for old vedic architecture which could incorporeate new building standards and requirements of a college. Class rooms should not be as the normal AC rooms, it should provoke the "Guru-Shishya Parampara" and at the same time no modern facility should be ommited. Good landscaping as that of the old Ashramas may be provided to make, the whole campus look like, as if were very cool and chanting the shlokas of old documents.

Rolling Eyes Hope you got what I ment
Best of luck

hi there!
i m sorry if its being posted twice the previous one had error
neways i guess the topic uv chosen for your gradutaion design is great, being from nepal myself i think its really essential to build sth that makes us feel we belong to sth thats so ancient and rich--- most of us are not even aware of where we belong

neways i guess its time to give tradition a break, i suggest u go for something modern-- we've seen a lot of churches and temples being built in very modern ways ofcourse u gotta think of some major places where u can pop in the traditional aspecst- other than that maybe make use of new materials new technologies make it more functional----
do keep me updated 'bout your design

all the best!
rekk
