Does anyone know of any buildings where the section steps downhill and the building appears to be underground. Tadao Andos Chikatsu Asuka Historical Museum is an example of the sort of thing i'm after. The way in which the entrance in this type of building might work is of particular interest.

Four buildings in the United States come to my mind as good examples. You can see images at the links listed:
Mueller Hall, University of Washington http://www.subsurfacebuildings.com/DiggingfortheGreen.html

Fort Snelling visitor center, Minneapolis, Minnesota http://www.subsurfacebuildings.com/Page4.html
Yates Field House, Georgetown University, Washington, DC

Cushing Academy Library, Ashburnham, Massachusetts

My web site, www.SubsurfaceBuildings.com, offers information about underground buildings, which you might find useful. |
