It has come back into the public's eye the last 25 years or so...... I saw the HABS drawings for this while still at Oxford. A friend of mine spent the summer living in this building as they documented it for the NPS. (You might know the young lady as she would have been a sophomore during your senior year at Mother Miami). It was not open to the public when she worked there. This is the house I need to go see next time I'm out east.

And I'm headed that way later this week...hope to have time to stop by and see it. But the privacy screens are a giveaway.

I think Patrick knows it's Monticello, he was just redirecting the conversation a bit. But you're right, the angle of the photo is less known, but the details nail it. That's a tough one..... you obviously took a course or two from Catherine Cresswell. (Also no longer at MU - "retired" and moved out west last we heard). My good friend and a classmate of yours - Whit Tussing - would know this building. Whit is teaching in Newark and practicing in Glenford. He renovated/converted the Bank in Glenford into a home for one of his clients (was featured on Restore America). All of my history classes where with Sergio (who ran my thesis). I have the emotional scars to prove it Whit's Bank project...... the vault became the master bathroom. If you get into some serious historic renovation project - Whit's the go-to guy. He has a number of renovations of early Ohio brick homes under his belt. He can be selective with his projects since he teaches and the work shows it. Just beautiful work. And yeah... I knew the first was Monticello. How about this one....... just try to determine the potential architect. The house was built from a sketch plan from this gentleman and the house is in Louisville, KY.
