| I think the site is not very well suited for such a gathering purpose. From a practical side, The entire lower west side of manhattan from a spacially generous Battery park up to 57th street has been transformed into a great park. Highly condusive to marches and a whatever other event with a minimun of 5 miles of open space. Which eventually terminates at Central park beginning at 57th street, crosstown a few blocks. Central park has already been noted for huge gatherings containing millions of people. - Recently City Hall park has been redesigned to accomodate protesters and the like, at 3 blocks away from the WTC, what better place to protest but at the doorstep of our leaders? NYC has its share of open spaces, probably more than most U.S cities with relation to its size, I think what they have allocated for open space is fine. |
