Our firm is thinking about going to all electronic bidding for some projects. Have others out there had experience with this? What are some of the pit-falls to watch out for.
thanks.

Electronic bidding of projects and services has proven to be hugely value added undertaking IF the best suited EBS provider is used.
One would think that each EBS provider was very similar to the next. This is certainly not the case. My firm has evaluated 20 different providers across 6 subjective and 43 objective dimension and help businesses select the highest valued solution to meet their operational and financial objective. In order to present fair and unbiased recommendations, Apex PM solutions does not market or sell EBS systems.
Everything from security and fee structures to data reselling and restrictions affecting your businesses other processes must be carefully evaluated. Although many success stories, there are also many failures as the wrong EBS was contracted.
Feel free to contact me for additional information.

Any recommendations for Public Sector work.
One our of Airport clients wants to implement CPBids. Seems they cover all the bases as the bid process is well defined. What i found odd about the EBS listed above is that they do no public work bidding.
The first stumbling block out of the gate is the fact that the Bid Forms we use with this client consists of 32 pages and 22 attachments. Invitation to Bid and Bid Forms all have language defining the hard bid process. The County attorney is reviewing the concept to see how they feel about the process. I don't want our firm modifying there standard 'Front Ends'.

Public Sector agencies, including Airport Authorities, have procurement needs that are slightly different from most private companies. We are currently involved with introducing and implementing EBS to both. Prime consideration for architectural firms is similar to that of engineering firms; selecting a system that can meet the needs of many clients, without EBS customization for each bid.
Your client’s many pages of bid forms is not unusual. I am familiar with a solid system that offers the flexibility to be used with many clients with ease of up-loading bid forms that maintain full bid tabulation capabilities.

jshaffer....thanks. I received your email and have talked to my client. They didn't seem to want to go down another path. They have invested a little time with CPBids and seem to want to go in that direction....
If they do it at all. They are much busier thatn usual and may not want the additional time / effort involved in incorpoarting a new system.
Thanks...
