so the architecture is to be revolving buildings and underwater hotels still no mention of space stations that jet off into infinity and beyond.
Me I lived in a small terraced house and well expect to live in a 2 up 2 down from now until the obvious happens.
I recently thought of doing a histories of architecture tour. After the idea of an armed gaurd and haveing to wear a flack jacket just to see the ziggurats in Iraq I got a bit confused at the impurities of seeing the rennaisance mixed up with ancient rome (which I will visit).
Far from being well travelled I consider myself ignorant to the culture of europe let alone the rest of the world. I've been to the Acropolis in Athens and went to Venice to see the Palladian architecture. When it came to a toss up between Egypt or NY the modernist won and the Empire
State Building ruled the day.
I have spent a third of my life reading architecture hstory and consider myself well read. Ziggurats Pyramids Crete Athens Temples Roman Byzantine Romanesque Gothic Renaissance Baroque RoccocoPalladian Gothic revival Neo Classical Greek revival Queen Anne revival this revival that Art Nouveau Modernist International Minimalist Contemporary Post Modern Oh and revolving Hotels that jeetison off into the outer solar system far away from impending nuclear attack.
I've read them all from Imhotep to the crow and beyond Venturi. The main reason for this is so that I didnt get bored and the real reason is to begin some ideas of my own. Problem is I haven't read much about the contemporary architects of today.
So I'm going to leave it open to you the reader to inspire me in the finishing of my Architecture History and theory course by suggesting material for me to read and tell me why put of all the thousands of architects out there I should read your personal choice.................
THANKYOU
