Hi!
I have been using DW Lite for some days, but haven't figured out how to make nice pictures out of my models. They all have angular edges.
Simple example:

What do I have to do, to have nice finished pictures like they are in user gallerys etc. I hope that it can be done with DW Lite or do I have to upgrade to DW Classic.
I have Pentium M, 1.7 GHz, XP Pro with 256MB RAM.

Slightly jagged edges are a normal part of the interactive, real-time rendering in DesignWorkshop's Lights & Textures mode. In this mode, objects are not anti-aliased to improve real-time redraws in a live walkthrough.
In your case, it seems as though there may be a couple of other factors at work which may exaggerate the perception of this normal behavior.
First, the building in your example is particularly angular to begin with. So, the jaggedness is rather noticable. There's not really much that can be done about that!
Also, it seems as though the view you saved had an unusually wide angle (ie, the 2D zoom was less than 100%). If that's the case, there's probably a good deal of distortion in the perspective which may contribute to the jaggedness.
Instead of using the 2D zoom, try moving away from the building using the Eye Tool. With the Eye tool seleted, hold the alt key (option for Mac users), then click and drag with your mouse. Dragging your mouse toward you should move the view away from the model, while dragging your mouse away from you should move the view toward the model.

Anti-aliasing in Lights & Textures is available with the Lightworks Picturemaker plug-in, included with DesignWorkshop Professional. Even higher-quality overall rendering results are available to DW Professional users through the RenderCity online rendering service.
For do-it-yourself anti-aliasing on still images try exporting an image at high resolution using the File -> Export 2D -> Pixel Image... menu command. Then using Photoshop or another professional image editing program (with proportions constrained), resize your image downward (by half or quarter, etc.). |
