hi everyone,

my thesis is about religious formation center..which includes lectures halls, quarters, meditation areas, chapel etc...its a school for a certain religious group just like seminaries for priest...

the focus of this study is how the space affects the feelings, emotions of the users..any information that will help me is greatly appreciated...[website,books, or .pdf files you want to share]

By the way i have a question:
The application of both Psychology and Behavioral science in architecture had big difference?..I'm quite confused cause i don't have background in psychology

sorry for bad English.. hehe thanks

hey...even i m looking forward to a design thesis that interrelate architecture and psychology...bt stilll at this point i m not sure of building typology and presently looking 4 that....Definitely application of both Psychology and Behavioral science in architecture had big difference but it has nthing to do with individuals i guess....its more about group of people in relation with certain type of space....and the difference is more about environmental psychology....
but ma question to tou is that....How can u say religious formation center would be the space that would b affected by the feelings, emotions of the users or in broader sense psychology?
4 me its jst a start ....so looking forward 4 options....
quick reply would be appreciated....
thnks...

Well, in my opinion the architecture of any space has plays a big role on the behavior of it's users. A good example is Gothic churches, their architecture is based on what the metaphysic concept in relation to the aesthetic sense of the time was. In other words what was thought to look beautiful based on religious motifs. The reason for this seem pretty self-explanatory to me, it's purpose was to simulate the concept of heaven inside the church, thus reinforcing religion on it's users.
In modern days the applications of this concepts are mostly used for commercial purposes, such as malls, designer stores, corporate headquarters, etc. Although they are still used for religious places of assembly.
