Dear Designers, Builders, and Friends,
Green Wednesday, by the editors of ArchitectureWeek, brings you weekly green design and building news from around our planet.
It is great to note a very timely climate move made in the UK, today:
"Britain will adopt a more severe target to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, increasing this to 80 percent from 60 percent, newly installed Energy and Climate Minister Ed Miliband said Thursday.
"The move came against the grain of intense industry lobbying to dilute an ambitious European Union climate change program, including tough carbon caps, at a meeting of EU leaders on Thursday.
"Business lobby groups argue that cutting carbon emissions will add to fuel bills, but Miliband said the costs of not fighting climate change were greater, and would detail next year how Britain would embark on meeting the goal.
"'In tough economic times, some people will ask whether we should retreat from our climate change objectives," he told Britain's Parliament. "In our view, it would be quite wrong to row (pull) back.'"

** ArchitectureWeek is a green publication. By publishing
this professional design and building magazine online-only,
we save about 48 tons of paper monthly, 50 large trees
every week, or 2500 trees (around a dozen acres of mature
conifer forest) each year, compared to reaching a similar
readership on paper - not counting these newsletters!
We provide ongoing pro-bono services to local non-profit
sustainability organizations. And our company offices are
powered by 100% wind energy through our local utility:
