Energy & Atmosphere Credit 1

The project I am working on has taken an existing single story library building and turning it into an open air pavilion and amphitheatre (keeping all structure, walls and floors in tact, only removing the windows to creat the openings). The interior has kept the interior lighting, but has replaced all fixtures with new more efficient fixtures, and the overall use will not be a 24-7 thing, maybe the weekends during the summer, none at all during the winter.

Without doing the calculations yet, comparing the previous use of a library to now a pavilion, the energy simulation has to be at least 35% decrease, which would yield 10 points, right?

Have I given enough info to make this preliminary statement?

Well all for not. We just realized that if you fail to meet any of the prerequisites in ANY category, your building can not be LEED certified.

This is a shame, we didn't have a silt fence up because we didn't disturb the earth to require one, nor by local code, but that single fact took a possible GOLD certified building to nothing.

Well at least as the Architect's we know what we did was responsible and should feel good without having a plaque to prove it.
