I managed to diagnose my problem as I was getting to write this post. I was having trouble importing a DWG file and preserve the layers, so i toggled Paste Thru Layers to on. The layers are now preserved, but the functionality is really primitive.
I was attempting to import a drawing into a titlesheet, and the program drops the linework right on top of the sheet, and is unselected, so i don't have the opportunity to move it out of the way, as I do if the PTL command is off.
If I attempt to Undo, it steps backwards through elements incrementally instead of everything at once.
One of those awkward things about this program, unless I'm missing something in the process.

Aha, I had the Edit All Layers switch off, so i couldn't see the whole import selection set.
This works, but I wouldn't call it elegant. |
