I am trying to find out more about materials that can be used that will reduce cost, therefore coming up with a very cheap way to construct low cost houses. The standard of living from I come from is high with the income low. Can someone come up with a design and construction method that will affordable mainly to low income earners in my country? An estimate of 65% of total population some under this bracket.

A new method will ver much appreacited.

Whatever is most abundant locally...mud (adobe) or stones? Timber or concrete? Tin or steel? The problem of low-income design is not new nor really complicated. The smaller the house, the cheaper. The simpler the house the cheaper. No running water? No electricity? How many doors or windows? There are some basic needs that can be met within a house...but the key issue is how to make these more than buildings...how to make them "homes". All the answers you seek can be found locally...sometimes by just walking around and listening to what the people have to say about their homes.
