Introduction and Mission
The EDA Group Ltd. is pleased to announce the launch of a new international open design competition. Students and student teams and professional Architects, landscape architects, engineers, town planners and urban designers (or teams thereof) are invited to submit imaginative, inspirational ideas for the future Battor Country Club.
Battor Country Club is a master plan golf and tennis residential resort community situated along the banks of Volta River in the village of Battor in the Volta Region of Ghana, West Africa.
The country club will sits on approximately 110 acres of land between the Volta River and a seasonal creek. The club is designed to provide exclusive recreational facilities for a growing segment of the population interested in resort facilities close to Ghana’s Capital city of Accra.
Eligibility
Competition is open to teams or individual Architects, landscape architects, engineers, town planners and urban designers. Students and student teams enrolled in architecture or landscape architecture programs are highly encouraged to enter.
Prizes
A jury will select one first prize and two honorable mentions.

o $5,000 cash prize

Submission Guidelines
Submissions should not include any name, logos, or markings that identify the entrant and or team. All authors are to remain anonymous placing their information in a sealed enveloped fixed to the back of the competition boards.
Information should include: The name of all participants including school affiliation and student year.
All submissions become the property of the Battor Country Club Design competition. As no provisions will be made for work to be returned it is highly recommended that work be documented and saved.
A selected jury of professionals will be selected at a given time to award the competition winners. The jury has full discretion to ascertain the completeness, content, and resolution of the entries. The Jury will also be responsible for checking that all entries comply with the competition guidelines.
The winning entry design will show:
o 18 hole Golf course at least 6,500 yards total course length
o Large Practice Green(s) close to the club house
o Driving Range
o 20 unit townhouse
o Tennis Courts
o Jet Ski and Boat docking station by the river
o Club House (Restaurant, Bar, Club House Store and offices, Conference Center, Spa)
Site proposals should include scaled plans of the design scheme, with at least one cross section through a major space. Appropriate graphics and text should be applied with emphasis on perspective views highlighting the experience that would be the Battor Country Club and Resort. Graphic techniques are entirely at the discretion of the competitors. Scale drawings should include a graphic scale and a north arrow.
Work should be mounted on rigid, lightweight boards, preferably foam core. Submissions should be no more than three boards each 30” x 42”.
On the back of each board should be the sealed envelope with team information.
All juried information must be adhered to the boards. Separate models and diagrams (not included graphically or through photography on the board) will not be considered as part of the presentation.
