Hi:
I just purchased a fully remodeled home. The problem is there are some very strong "new home" smells in the house. Mostly from the Cabinetry in the Kitchen and from the rebond carpet pad (no smell from the carpet). All the smells are giving me pretty bad headaches ...
Any ideas on what this is from?
I called the cabinet maker to ask him about the cabinets, and here's what he said:
I talked to the cabinet maker -- here's the scoop on the plywood:
--- He used Baltic Birch which is glued together with an exterior resin. It is also coated with some type of resin (not sure about this)
--- The veneer is Cyprus, which he glued on to the plywood himself at his shop
--- The Cyprus was then stained by the general.
--- All surfaced of the cabinets were shellacked.
--- The main entrance door is solid wood core with Cyprus veneer that he glued on at his shop.
--- He took no special care to use low VOC adhesives, plywood or sealants/stains.
The cabnets smell is very strong especially when they are open.
Any thoughts ??
