Donald, I'm sure this will shock you to no end, but I don't think Hiliary will fare well in a national campaign. I think the biggest reason will be her record in the Senate. Senators can be picked apart pretty well by an organized candidate. We all saw this with Bob Dole and John Kerry. Long voting records in the Senate are a disadvantage. Other the Bush #1, the president's since 1976 have come out of the Govenorships. We could probably add Nixon to that list since he had been out of the mix for eight years prior to the 68 election.
So forget Hiliary. She will self destruct. Then the question is who - from both parties - can mount a serious campaign in '08. Unfornately, his senatorial record could damage a strong Republican like Ohio's George Vionovich (Who was Gov before being a Senator) How old will Tommy Thompson be in '08? I think he could gain broad support. Or will his term as HH Sec hurt him? Richardson out of New Mexico seems to be a strong candiate on the Dem side. I don't know if Jeb Bush would be able to follow his brother. I think the country might say enough is enough with the Bushes- whether that is fair or not.
We are already hearing from McCain and Biden hinting about '08, Good solid candiates both, but again unless they face another senator, they will have a tough road.
If I were running either party - I would be looking at the governors to see who could be the best candidate and start grooming them for a run.
I don't support Arnold as prez for obvious constitutional reasons which I wholeheartedly support. A little nationalist yes, maybe its that Manchurian Candiate fear.

How can Hillary stay out of this next race?
OK ... I'll admit it. I want to see if, the world's smartest woman, the world's best lawyer, get into the next presidential race. Frankly, I wonder how she can stay out of the race?
The sweat started beading up on Hillary's mustache when the pollsters start reporting that Kerry was ahead of Bush up through election day. Every breath, step, word, thought and deed undertaken by Hillary Clinton right now is aimed at one central goal ... becoming the first female president of the United States. There is nothing in her life that is more important than her eventual occupation of The White House.
Hillary Clinton was born in 1947, so that should make her 57 years old. Now that JK lost his shot at it, Hillary will make her run in 2008. That would make her 60 years old when she begins her campaign. Have Americans ever elected a non-incumbent who was 60? I don't think so. Advantage? ... maybe. Also, by the time that 2008 election rolled around Hillary would have to be out of office in New York for her last years ... unless, of course, if she lies to them by saying that she fully intends to serve her full six-year term if they reelect her.
Make no mistake. The Clintons didn't want Kerry to win this election. They wanted Hillary to be the candidate in 2008 in a wide open election. I believe the Clintons will go to extraordinary lengths to see Hillary's dreams fulfilled ...and that included finding a way to sabatoge the JK campaign...with James ("the party must be reborn") Carville?
What fun.

Oh --- I think she will enter the race, but her sentorial voting record will kill her as will the Health Care intitative she lead for Bill duing the first term. She will run and lose, unless the republicans put up another Senator.
I think the Republicans will be pretty smart and start looking at their governors. And if the Dems were smart they would do the same. Again, someone with Tommy Thompson's record as Governor of Wisconsin would be VERY hard to beat.

What will kill Hillary? It won't only be her Senate and Health Care initiatives, it will be her stand on taxes.
Hillary really showed herself in this past year. Not only did she reveal her love of high taxes, but she did so in the arrogant, condescending manner that forms the foundation of her personality. Hillary told us that she is ".. going to take things away from (us) on behalf of the common good."
There are several basic elements of the liberal faith exposed in Hillary's threat. (And yes, it was a threat.) The two most important elements were that all wealth belongs to the government and that the lives of individuals must be controlled by government. The government demonstrates its ownership of all wealth by determining how it is to be "distributed," and its ownership of individuals by controlling aspects of our private lives.
The Imperial Federal government, under the control of such worthy people as Hillary, decides what portion of the wealth that we have earned it will "give" us. You've heard liberals refer to tax breaks as "giveaways" to the rich. You and I know that a tax break doesn't "give" anything to the rich. It merely allows the high producers to keep more of what they worked for and earned. But to Hillary and her leftist friends, all that you earn actually belongs to government ... so, to them, it is a giveaway.
Not only do liberals not recognize your right to or ownership of the wealth that you produce, liberals don't even want to recognize your sovereignty as an individual. Just think for a moment of the choices that the government doesn't allow you to make. In virtually every state in the nation you cannot make your own choice as to who will clip your nails. In Texas and Florida the government tells you just who can help you match the color of a sofa fabric to your drapes. In Georgia and virtually every other state you can't decide who you want to clip your nails. In Arizona it's a crime to have someone trim your cuticles. In South Carolina a female can't get a massage from a male. It's so wonderful to live in a free country, isn't it?
And now we have Hillary proudly and arrogantly announcing that the government is going to seize property from individuals for "the common good." Don't ignore the message here. You are not a free individual. You exist to serve the state. Hillary is here to show you the way.

Heres a very early 2008 poll (you know how I hate polls) that shows that a generic Republican candidate beats HC by 46% to 39%:

She has a slight lead among women, and trails 17 points among men. She's still going to run though. It's all part of The Plan

| Donald, "we know" that you like polls that support your theory du jour, and don't like, dismiss, or tend to just ignore polls that contradict your views.

KM, as you already know, generally all polls bother me. As I've clearly stated in a previous post: Polls tell us what the majority wants. I don't really care what the majority wants. This country is not now and never was supposed to be a democracy....give me the rule of law over the rule of man any day.

Republic: "a government in which supreme power resides in a body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by elected officers and representatives responsible to them and governing according to law".
or do you use the term as in "Banana Republic" ?
