Artifice Images are the licensing agents for most of the architectural imagery presented at GreatBuildings.com and for several associated image archives.
Clients of Artifice Images include Time-Life, the BBC, Die Zeit, the U.S. Postal Service, Hungry Minds Press, Wiley, McGraw-Hill, Phaidon, Microsoft and the Microsoft Press, Byron-Preiss Multimedia, Arts and Antiques Magazine, Otis Elevator, Elkay, and many other well-known US and international companies, authors and publishers, periodicals, web and exhibit designers, advertising agencies, and film companies.
If you take good architectural photographs, whether as a skillful amatuer or a seasoned professional, you might be interested in joining our pool of participating photographers. Pooled together, our combined photo catalogs provide superior selection to image licensing clients. That gives them better access to just what they are looking for, however particular, and it increasingly allows us to be selected as preferred provider for significant publishing projects.
If you're not currently represented by Artifice Images, and you're interested in the possibility of joining our pool, the standard way to get started is to submit some of your original photographs in digital form to GreatBuildings.com at: http://www.greatbuildings.com/image_contrib.html
When an image is submitted at that URL, the contributor elects to either have Artifice Images decline third-party licensing inquiries, or to authorize Artifice as a non-exclusive licensing agent for the image, or to authorize Artifice as the exclusive licensing agent for the image.
Anyone with good pictures of a good building is welcome to contribute. For images which are accepted with Artifice selected as a licensing agent, Artifice Images provides professional representation, including as applicable cataloging, negotiation, sales, and delivery. Fifty percent of licensing income goes to the participating photographer.
Photographers with significant collections, digitized or not, and with particular questions are invited to contact Artifice Images by email to "rights@artifice.com".
