Many manufacturers post drawings of their products for download in a PDF format.
Is it possible to import a PDF drawing into AutoCAD?

Acheson - There are two ways to go about it;

1. You can convert the PDF to a jpeg image and import the image to AutoCAD, however the image will not be vector and obviously out of scale. You will then have to retrace the image in AutoCAD and scale it appropriately.

2. There are a few softwares which can convert Jpegs to CAD dwgs, however the line types/consistency is highly suspect and in certain cases completely useless. In any case you will have to assign line types/layers manually

Depending on the number of details/sheets you can either do it manually or use a workshare firm like us to do it for you at very nominal rates.

Hope this was of some help to you Very Happy

Regards,
Carol

depending if it has vector or raster data do 1 of 2 things

save to PNG in bitmap mode dithered
or open PDF in Rhinoceros, or Illustartor and save to DWG (to get vectors)

or course you can always use a vectorizing program on a raster pdf but i wouldn't recommend it

WARNING! don't visit that link unless you want to be abused by the forum moderators and evangelized (beware those who follow the fish).

If they can't say here and have to link out, it shows a level of desperation and a disdain for this designcommunity. Razz

if you do go try talking about the intellicad(s) or any other alternative to autodesk and watch how fast you are banned.

Excuse me, but i tend to browse CADtutor alot, and although it is an AutoCAD based forum, they do NOT abuse other members.

Please do not post abuse like this in an open forum. Evil or Very Mad

We use the PDF import tools in ToolPac.
AutoCAD 2009 with Bonus Pack 2 and later includes the ability to insert a reference to a PDF file (like an XREF).

More options can be found here: http://cadpanacea.com/node/30
