I think having my driveway so close to the front of the house, makes my home look cold and uninviting. I just want to warm it up, and I thought maybe a porch or deck would help. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

| I'm sorry Lexie, I don't see what you're talking about. From the pictures you posted, you have a beautiful home. I love the picket fence with the little arbor. You're right, the driveway is too close to the home, but other than that, the composition in my opinion is really nice and very inviting. That being said, I'm not sure if a porch or portico will improve what you have already. I would concentrate on hardscape, solid material pathways in the garden and also a little more layering of landscaping. Just my opinion.

I agree, the house is cute. The driveway is to close and the landscaping could be better. A nicer front door would be good. The roof seems to be sagging on the ends. Maybe paint the downspout to hide it. The roofing could be better next time that needs to be replaced. Perhaps the planter boxes could be painted an accent color.

Thank you again, I think you are right I need to focus on moving the driveway(which is possible) and maybe bring in some dirt and make some gardens, paths, and add interest in other ways.

Chris, I want to thank you also. I like your ideas, and yes the roof does sag, on both sides, I wish it would wear out so we could justify replacing it. A front door is workable, even if we sanded and painted it, that might work wonders. When you look as the same think everyday for years sometimes you don't even notice how bad it really is. We could have made that door look much more appealing 15 years ago. It has never been painted. I am going to update the window boxes, paint the front door and get rid of that driveway. Your ideas have motivated me. Thanks again.
