COmparing with civil engineers and architects pay per month, who earn more? in what condition? how so? who needs to work harder? who is more respected in the community?

i would say that starting out a civil engineer is probably going to make more- over time depending on the work you are doing and the size of company you work for i think the gap probably closes up

although i would always give the civil engineer the edge overall

as for respect- in general terms i would guess that architects are probably more widely respected if for no other reason than the general public has some kind of idea what they do- they design buildings... where as not everyone is quite so sure what civil engineers do... you might think of them when talking about highway design but you might also think about them when talking about a parking lot at walmart...

A wise man once said: do what you love to do, and you will never work a day in your life.

Now that's great advice.

Yeah, and you may not eat either.

Architects and CE's can make comparable salaries. It all depends on location, experience and sector.

Check out salary.com but take it all with a grain of salt.

Employees in either field, architecture or Architecture will find substantial salary limitations and barriers to upward mobility in the firm; not much room at the top.

Private practice is expensive capital intensive and simply is not possible unless you have start-up money in most countries now. If you have enough money to start a practice then you can make substantial amounts of money in either profession. Very Happy

Sounds like a guy who wants to limit competition.

You don't need much to go out on your own. Some savings, some talent, a client and a computer in your home.

Walker is like too many in this business who treat interns like crap with lousy wages.
