normally we will see in the hollywood movie, those luxury house come with the smart home system or we call it home automation. by press one 1 button, alot of action will be perform in sequence. for e.g the light will turn on, music will play, roller blind curtain will roll up, on the air-con and so on...

I am wondering if there is any house/project in malaysia with this kind of system installed? because i am trying to find out how is the market preception and demand for this kind of system and solution...really hope you all can share some point of view with me here...

Thank you... Laughing

Home automation systems are great, considering that you have a need for it. Before you decide to jump into an AMX or Crestron system, you should understand the cost impact of these units. We normally install these into large homes where you would need multiple banks of lights to have the room function in terms of light level. Once you decide that you want to purchase the "brain" of the system, there is a long list of accessories that you can add to it, touch screens, water bugs, cameras, biometric sensors, etc. We have specified these units in Beijing and Hong Kong, so there should be a distributor in Malaysia.

Crestron is a proprietary system and is exclusive o many "add-ons". However, if specified I am one who believes you can rest at night knowing you will have a technician available to fix it, or update it. But an alternative is a integrated system, which works from a mainframe and can mostly be accomplished through many custom written programs that interacts with each sub-system. A virtual plu-and-play system that allows for more adaptability. However, one must have alot of confidence that this frankenstein approach doesn't create conflicts and debugging some of these may not be worth the headache. AMX is a good choice. There are a few others.

Also keep in mind there are various degrees of "automation" that at some point could be reduced to simply an integrated system that controls some environmental elements but is not truly "automation". Anyway, it's for certain a more expensive route than standard construction but in the end, for those who want the convenience of not personally flipping on a switch, these systems are so awesome!
