Hello to you all!
I am in my final year at Nottingham Trent University studying for a BA Hons in Design Development and Regeneration. I am currently writing a paper on the following question:
"Do the aesthetics of contemporary architecture and design have to be compromised through the introduction of sustainable materaisl and construction techniques?"
Any comments from others would be helpfull plus any relevant information they may have on this subject. I have allready found a number of pieces but am finding it so interesting i want to learn more. It seems to be an area which nobody has written muhc on previously. If you are aware of anybody who has writen a paper or dissertation on this subject or an area surrounding it please let me know who the person is so I can contact them and ask for their opinion or possibly read what they have to say on the subject.

What is "contemporary architecture"? An amalgamation of everything currently being built?
Many structures have been built using green methodology. Are they contemporary or something else? Certainly green methodology will effect the look of a structure. How green is green? I would guess that is we ever manage to really go green our entire built environment would have to change.
I certainly would not consider green methodology a compromise of aesthetics. I'm not sure what you mean by that. We always impose rules on ourselves which limit what the design will look like so in that since using any methodology is a compromise.
I guess I don't really understand the question:

It is a subjective question so it can only be answered by the individual. And if the question was "Will green methodology change the look of our built environment?" The answer would be so obviously "yes" that the question would not be worth asking.
How would you answer your own question?
