Bush is pointing the finger at Iran again - accusing Iran of providing heavy weapons to Iraqi militia. Sadly for him even Gen. Pace does not back up the claims.
Three things should be noted:
What is interesting is that the mortar shells shown are (as I understand) not re-branded in Farsi, which would be strange.
By far the greatest number of devices used to attack coalition forces have been used by Sunni insurgents (and nobody believes that Iran would arm them).
Thirdly is that they are 81mm mortar shells. So what ?
So who uses 81mm mortars ? UK, Germany, France, Finland, Greece and the USA - and Israel.
Who uses 82mm mortars ? Russia (and former Soviet Union) - and Iran (and apparently China).
Of course there are different sized mortars, but to have a variance of 1mm in the same army would create a logistical nightmare.
What am I saying ? That the odds are that the "evidence" that Bush has provided in fact shows re-branded standard-issue British 81mm mortar shells.
However I could be completely mistaken and Iran may have a hoard of 81mm mortar shells stored alongside Iraq's WMD. _________________ Richard Haut has worked with the architectural profession for over 25 years and produces the weekly Richard Haut's Competitions, which has given architects details of many thousands of projects for which they can apply across Britain and Europe. |

Last week, it was shoulder fired missles from Russia. I could accept that.
Mondays news was 12 billion dollars lost by Bremer, something like 27 tons of paper-$100 bills just...poooof. Gone!
Today's news, it is mortar rounds, or "devo penetrata" rounds. Horrific casualties. I can accept that.
Two weeks ago, it was Iranian bomb makers in Gaza. I swallowed that one big time.
Seems to me somebody thinks we have enough for another million casualties and half a trillion dollars flushed into Haliburton AND depleting our military AND making America more weak. Sure.
Oh...US cannister bombs over Lebanon...still exploding, still killing and maiming. C130 gunships in Somalia? No chance. We don't do that.
Folks...you have my permission...punch my ticket in this world, I'm going to hell anyways, and this is not sanity. Pass the kool-aid.....ahhh wait!
