My Salutations to you forum readers,
The topic i wanted to discuss had been bothering me for quite some time. Its been realised that the present trend of architecture cannot be brought under one single topic even though they call it global architecture. No body has made a complete analysis of the pluralistic nature of the present contemporary nature of architecture because of its growing vastness and subdivisions. But, classifying them under different titles have been done.
We have Utopian or futuristic architecture, Nature based, ecological, nature based etc etc.. also a part of these types. We know that Architecture is primarily about the space that is being dealt. In our our ever changing world, computer has become a part of our life. In ways that without which things would be very difficult to express. To express a visionary concept, computers are prefered.
The reason for my elaborate explanation is yet to follow readers......
Its always been space space and space in any case. What about the space inside the computers that are being used everyday(not literally)? Space for the form of entertainment -"COMPUTER GAMING".
Games are designed for people. Games have to have a space for the charcter to move around. The space has to be well designed according to the need. There are other things which have to be dealt with. Whether the space is to deal with alien characters or human, space is a space and to give a suitable one is the job of an architect.
Has anyone thought about giving this type of practice a name in our architecture community??? or does it come under the ethics in the first place? building on god made earth and not inside computers??
Though i`m an architect myself, i have always seen architecture as built masses to serve multitude of functions for earthlings.
Digital architecture is again for people like us. The type of architecture i`m talking about must come under visionary architecture in some category. Should it?? |
