Hi! Got a problem. I would like to know if you can photo render a 2d AutoCAD image e.g. elevation of a house. This is to make the elevation look realistic. Or if there is a hatch package out there, that I can import into AutoCAD.

Sure you can. You can do this by using the "SuperHatch" command (in ACAD since r14). This will let you use raster files (jpegs and such) as hatch patterens. If you have r2004 or above you can also use gradient fills to add to this. You can even add a sketch look if you want by using a free lisp routine (freehand) or the napkin add on with ADT04 and above.
Here's one with a sketch look with a white background..
Here's one with a black background and different hatches (I borrowed some from SketchUP)..
These were some quick and dirty ones threw together to show how it can be done. |

Couldn't he just develop a 3D model, fix a 3D elevation view, then photo-render it? _________________ John Cruet

Where did my pics go?? Must have removed them from my webspace
Yeah, he could but depending on his 3D skills it might be easier to do it in 2D. Now, as a better solution I would just export the files to SketchUp and go from there

Why not print out of CAD an EPS file. open that up in photoshop and start painting away?
Similar to exporting to Sketchup I guess but not really sure what that application does.
