| I'd rather have a constructive conversation anyday than speak with the likes of a guy that calls himself grimstuff. I welcome a voice that says your site is extremely terrible but a least say it in a respectful way. |

hanihamad, your poll headline is manipulative, because it requires visitors to go to the post to find out anything about the content.
Then the subject of the poll itself is entirely egotistical, not offering anything of general interest to the community.
As such, I sincerely suggest you shouldn't be surprised if you get negative reactions.
The negative context is your creation (however inadvertent).
PS: One's credibility is not enhanced by asking for respectful discussion at the same time as criticizing a screen name. |

| thanks for pointing that out kevin I was just frustrated at the time but I still think that he "grimstuff" was out of line, concerning the title if you know how I could change it tell me and I will what I was trying to do is get response from you guys so I can improve so I guess that is a valuable service I wouldnt want everyone to go around thinking what an idiot because I put out such a website "as the other guy grimstuff clearly did" so it is fair to ask for more opinions in order to improve. thanks for your post. |

    |
|
One thought I've had... If you were to invest in some more description of your site, like what you are trying to achieve, who you think is your audience, what tools you're using to create it, what material (content) you're putting in to it - stuff like that whatever makes sense - then some of the people reading that description here in the forum would be interested, and might respond to your investment by looking at your site carefully, with more contextual understanding taht would lead to a more positive and helpful attitude. In other words, they'd be likely to match the investment you demostrate here, with some solid and thoughtful feedback to you.
In each of our web sites, which collectively get something like a couple of million visitors a month, we think there is something of value that the visitor can get there. Maybe a beautiful picture to see, maybe a striking new idea, maybe a political voice... maybe some well-intended free advice.
Think about this question: What can you provide of some value to the people who visit your web site? |

I actually thought I offered my opinion in a respectful way, albiet tongue-in-cheek.
What I meant to say is this: Your webpage-making skills are obviously lacking. I would not reccomend using that site for business purposes. None of the links work, and the design is horrible.
I would recomend you simplify the layout, and get the links working before you give that address out to anybody.
Oh, and about my username: My name is David Grim, so if you would like to make fun of that too, go right ahead. |

Thanks a million Kevin I really value your advise I am take it seriously. I was so enthusiastic about making a website that I couldnt wait to launch it since it is my first. I am now convinced more than ever that I shouldnt have not until it is finished at least.
But to look on the bright side with the feed back I got from you and david grim I know I have to do it differently next time I decided to go with another look "maybe david will like this one better ".
Concerning David consider the whole thing forgotten let's not make a big deal out of somthing so stupid I am disappoited you hate the design so much but I dont really care since it was my FIRST try I'll get it better next time and I hope you will do me the honour of a second review at the time, no "horrible" feelings ok??
Thanks again guys. |

I agree with Kevin and felt somehow disappointed about what the topic was really about...anyway hanimad....I liked some elements of your page, but I didnt like many of them. I think that you have a very powerful intro page with those blue colors but that its somehow blurred by the little messages wich Im not even able to read on the right side and on the top. I dont like the water effect you do on the bottom....
Finally you should question yourself if its a good idea to include political ideologies in your web page....
Keep it Up |

Thanks RoOsS sorry about the disappiontment but its out of my hands now its already posted. The water effect was actually one of the first things I was gonna remove I liked it at first but then I got over it. It just isnt appropriate for the current layout.
From the feed back I got I think maybe a page that focused more on the blue intro maybe animate it a bit more would have been more acceptable to everyone maybe the trick is not to even try to cram so much information on the first page. I wanted to have everything on the first page that was my ignorance I guess. so I intend for the time being to move some links into other pages and do some shuffling.
By the way the stuff you cant read is in arabic so that's another thing I need to change that to english but I cant find any english news service that provides a free news ticker so if you can help I would be extremely grateful.
You guys are stuck with the political ideologies I am even going to expand that section. I dont know where you are from, but as an arab I am in the middle of these things our basic rights are being systematically taken away by other nations "ie US & coalition , israel" so what do you expect we cant shut up and take it we have to at least mouth our protest specially when homes are being torn down every single day so with all respect I am gonna have to keep that one.
If you are gonna comment on political issues please email me because they are removed for some reason from the forum. |

| I actually like the blue/white triangle layout and the swirling H's in the center. I think you should keep that. |

i visited your website.it's good and i want to tell u that few architecture students in egypt who are able to build a website.so don't be dissappointed by the other comments.also i noticed u won the third prize of the metro station competition .
but i have a comment on your site,
1) some of icons don't work.
2)the layout is good but the words are too big.
3)i like the strip on the right.
4)i think favourite sites shouldn't be related to news only.
thank u and good luck |

Thanks sally where are you from? its nice to get a positive opinion I was starting to get the feeling the design was truly hiddeous.
could you please elaborate on your opinion on the competition design I hear to hear more opinions about that from everyone. I even have a poll up elsewhere.
I have to say you are the first one ever to say that the words are too big that is a surprize.
Concerning the favourite sites I was planning to expand that to include specially architectural links I like I might do a few micellaneous links but I still havent thought about that. |
