Naperville IL Project for learning, show casing energy effecient, solar and green addition to a typical 20 year old suburban home which is open to community activities due to its open architecture (large open living room on the first floor and flat roof top). Three bed rooms on second floor. Project is for enjoying the learning new ideas and technologies, and process of building time and cost effectively. High School students will learn and may use this for science fair competition.
1. structurally independent 2 story structure on a foot print of 27x 56 (including garage),
2. green terrace top for goat and chickens
3. Greenhouse on south side and in patio to grow vegetables and fruits
4. Non-allergenic and low-toxicity materials
5. Least disturbance to existing living spaces.
6. Solar and energy efficient.
7. Radiant floor heating
8. Architect and Contractor should facilitate learning of sustainable design
and construction principles by home owners' children.
