Hi sarah,
an option for uor thesis topic cld be "aerospace museum" where in u can experiment with space plannin/structural design....
Another cld be "flexible structures" in terms of structural/architectural design and its feasibility for the function it wld be holding within. ...
Another topic cld be a "design academy" which holds masters program for graduates from different design backgrounds such as fine-arts, architecture, engineering, commercial arts etc!!!
Academy(training) for the visually impaired wld also be a good topic (experimenting)....
Well i am more inclined to the structual technology of the bldg and hence couldnt help suggesting above topics....
anyways let me know uor thesis topic......
all the best,
arkitek... |

Sarah, you can ask yourself some questions to help search for a good design thesis topic.
What do you want to get out of your project (besides credit for being done )?
Do you like traditional design, working from precedent, a classic program on which to show your sense of ornamental expression and design detailing? Something time-honored like an opera house might be a good project then.
Do you like asymmetries, new forms, casual geometries, strong functionalist structural elements? Perhaps a project type with a novel program and maybe a big open space would give you freedom and direction to explore those interests. Something like a museum of past, present, and future energy resources might be a good project then.
See, there is a way to start think critically about what kind of project will be good for you. Even if your teachers aren't helping you with that, you can help yourself.
There's practically no such thing as a "new" idea for a design thesis. Don't focus too much on such shallow glitter.
Try instead to think about what you care about. What do you love in architecture? (Do more of it!) What do you fear in architecture? (Do some of that too - when you succeed, greater self-confidence will be an incredible reward.) Tap in to your personal energy in a real way, and your design thesis can be a real thing for you.
And good luck!!! |
