Hi,
I hope that you don't mind me posting this here, but I was wondering what sort of a market there is out there for architects requiring computer simulations of their projects in order to quantify thermal performance or testing of such things as levels of insulation or optimizing the location and shape of building shades?
I am an engineer with lots of experience of modeling buildings using US Department of Energy software and I am thinking of offering building thermal simulation services to architects outside of my current employment. Before making any big moves though I wanted to "test the water" and see if there was a market for such services.
Thanks. |

A few days on and 35 views but no replies suggests to me that there is interest is simulation and testing of sustainable design projects, but not a huge market for it. It's required for LEED accreditation and for many rebate programs such as the NYSERDA New Construction Program.
Are there any architects who regularly use an engineering company to carry out environmental simulations?
Thanks |
