i'm a newbie to 3D drawings....
want to know what's the difference between 3D studio Max and Autodesk ViZ?
which one is most commonly used by architectural or interior designer?
what about Autodesk Architectural Desktop? what does it use for? is it like AutoCad? |

Try this for starters...

basically 3D Max has more features. Mostly for use in character design. Here is another link...

Viz is cheaper. ADT is based on AutoCAD while Viz and Max are not. ADT will allow you to do design as well as construction documents. It also has all of AutoCAD drafting built in as well. |

Max and Viz are built on the same platform but as was mentioned above, MAX has more options but is really marketed to the entertainment industries more. Viz is marketed as more of an Architectural, Landscape Architectural, Planning modeling package. Viz is cheaper but the price difference between the two is not proportionate with the differences in their abilities. For the different areas of work they are designed for they are pretty equal. Viz "plays" much better with AutoCAD (including Architectural Desktop - especially Viz 2005); it can handle any architectural rendering task needed and the advancements even just from Release 3 have been pretty amazing. Just my opinion but unless you're going to be doing animations that need to look like movies, commercials, etc. Max is a waste of money. I've used both and I just think Viz is a better suited program for our related design communities.
Man, did I just sound like a Viz sales rep or what . Sorry about that, I just think Viz is very well suited for the needs of our professions. Max is really overkill.
