Update notification
Some time back many in forum asked to be notified when there was an update. How is notification working for you? What would you change if you were writing the code? Has notification failed to work for anyone?
Thanks in advance.

Can some of you try this and let me know what you see on other printers.
The setup.
PC 6.0.9, OS X.3.3, HP 11x17 lasers, HP 1055CM plotter, Epson 2200 printer. HP laserjets are Postscript. HP 1055CM is postscript and that's the driver used. The Epson 2200 is a ink jet that can handle up to 13" paper. All are networked using AppleTalk.
Drawings are done assuming a 22x34 page size. This prints fine on the 1055CM. This size is chosen as the "standard" for this project is 11x17. These are printed at 50%. This works fine on the HP laserjets and the 1055CM. But on the Epson we get some strange results.
The drawing had 4 "pages" laid out vertically. So printing page 1 to 1 would get you the top sheet, 4 to 4 the bottom, etc...
When printed on the Epson page 1 to 1 works fine. Page 2 to 2 gives the bottom half of what should be the 1st page and the top half of what should be the 2nd page. Printing from page 3 to 3 gives what you would expect to get when printing page 2.
Does anyone else have a non-postscript HP or Cannon 11x17 printer where you can test to see if this is an issue?
Thanks

Obviously I put that in the wrong place. |

| I have found a problem with it. I kept getting notification when the update was the same as what was already installed. So I turned it off. I follow this forum enough so as not to miss the upgrades by much anyway. |

In smaller offices it's great. In larger ones where continuity is as important if not more than the having the latest and greatest I turn it off.
An email list of important tech (not marketing) information would be great. Then it would come to the people involved in doing the update, not the person doing the drafting who's not always allowed to update their software. |

Same with me, however, with the new version PC6.1, I thought I would give it a try again and have turned it back on. |

Bill,
I haven't been notified, in fact I've never been notified. However, I do check the site and I'm using the new version with pleasure. It's been very stable. Being notified would be very nice indeed.
Thanks, for terrific and responsive work.

Rong,
We wonder if it is possible that the alias in the dock was not replaced (manual operation) and you are not really operating with the latest updater.
Thanks.

[I haven't been notified, in fact I've never been notified.]
I don’t know why you were not notified but will continue to think about the circumstances.
Thanks for the information.

If you install the update but do not delete the old version and empty the trash, your machine will start the previous version on occasion. The way to find out which version you are using is to check your PowerCADD profile. Mine says 6.1 Build DD14.
In the General Tab of your PowerCADD preferences, you will see a checkbox, "Check for Sotware Updates" with a pop-up menu. Your choices are Never (uncheck the box), daily, weekly, or monthly. |
