I am quite an experienced pro/e 2001 user but to my surprise, i can't get pro/mechanica 2001 to even do the fist steps because windows xp gives its usual type of critical error and shuts it down. this happens when i try to autoGEM. i've tried looking at the settings (max and min distortion allow) but if it's the default i don't understand why it should cause a crash. and the home pc is similar spec to the office one apart from the fact that the office cad station has a PTC recommended video card. i don't really see why it should be a processor power deficit or anything like that. i am doing FEA of a 3 piece split rim but pro/m crashes even when doing autogem with surfaces of a simple i section or simple part.
if this has occured to anyone, please let me know because there may well be a fix that i don't know of and at work none of my colleagues seem to understand what the problem might be since they don't take their FEA work home in the evenings.
thanks
