Theres a guy in here named Donald. He seems to think that architects are paid adequately. He is content with his paltry salary and acts as though he can speak for the majority of architects, you should contact him. He is at ....

view of the self-importance of the architect in the building industry.
Don't bother with AIA, they are completely useless.

you kidding, right ?
seems Kerry is talking sense about the money being swindled out of America in Iraq being taken out of other services. The landing-speed of a child is not excessive (unless perhaps calculated by FEMA), so the landing areas are not, you know, as such, like .... big.
mighty America - and you can't even afford safe swings in a playground ? You have the s-t-r-a-n-g-e-s-t priorities Donald.

But Corby, why is the AIA useless with regard to fees? How much do you know about the history (recent decades) of design fee issues and the AIA?
And how about the fact that in places around Europe, or even Brasil, I believe, architects design a significantly higher proportion of the legally-built housing than in the U.S.? What's up with that? |

Okay, maybe so - in the U.S. that is - but where do you go with that approach? Contructive criticism? Critical engagement? "My AIA, right or wrong?" Or, as Corby might suggest, just ignore it and get on with your work? |
