i want to do my thesis on wayfinding and cognitive mapping in built environment, an approach to responsive environments.i'm basically interested in study of human psychology in relation to built environment. this particular topic, wayfinding and cognitive mapping, will include
a study on human perceptional cues needed for wayfinding
architectural elements that influences the cognitive skills
architectural features such as building layout, hence the circulation pattern.
behavioural pattern in that environment
and followed by an application of this study in a building type.
can you please suggest me on which building type i can apply this to.
though i kind of know my methodology i'm a little not sure whether i'm correct or not.
can you guide me with the methodology of my thesis.
i need your valuable suggestion to guide my thesis on the right path.
i'm jus on the starting stage of my thesis. so i have to frame a detailed synopsis now
please help me

i am also currently struggling with thesis woes...
i don't know how your particular program works and whatnot, but i would suggest that you not try to find a building type too quickly, b/c you might end up limiting yourself early on...
i would say try to research as much on your general idea as possible and then think about what expression in architecture you can most fully realize your thesis...i mean by saying, i'll do a hospital, you might realize later on in your research that a library might have been better...exhaust the general research first, then try to find the natural fit...
another thing that could be interesting with your thesis could be maybe a confusion of cues...like buildings with very similar circulation patterns but of extremely different uses or types...
like maybe a chuch with its aisles and very linear movement and say a slaughter house with its corrals and also very linear movement... see what i'm saying...just like adding another level to it... |

try not to limit urself with a single building...
but i'll suggest one anyway...
a museum...and there are many kinds of it...
