Depends actually, but if you want to start with a form:
1.There must be certain reason why that particular form is chosen.
2.The form must not be definite, it has to be flexible to adjust to the program/requirements.
3.The form has got to do with the whole scheme, eg. exhibition centre equals to display/show=transparent=perhaps crystal?
That is just an example how the form can be derived.
Good luck

Revise Design Analysis, approaches to decision making, problem solving models eg: BASDAG, associationism,Wurzburg etc..
but at the end you will develop your own methodology

From what I've seen in my studies (only 2+ years) that there's no set answer to a process of getting from a building concept to designing the actual building itself. In the projects I've done so far, I've tried to design the building envelope first, and fit the program elements into this envelope, adjusting certain measurements to accommodate the program. I've also gone at the process a different way, and placed the program elements where I wanted them, and then created a building envelope around these elements second. There is no set process that is better than another. Its a trial/error process that each person goes through to find whichever way works best for him/herself.
Hope this helps,
Chris |
