hey! I have something to ask you guys.. anyway please leave me message as soon as possible once you read this yea. thanks in advance! here you go
I have a presentation board together with the plans and elevations in it. But the thing is I lost the autocad files. Is it possible for me to scan the plans and elevations into the computer then trace it? I don't know what am I suppose to do in order to get back the plans in the correct dimensions and scales.
I planned to use google sketchup this time since I don't have autocad software here. So can I just scan the whole thing then trace it? after that scale it up or down into the proper scale? I'm trying to save my time by not figuring out all the dimensions again.
What am I suppose to do ?! thanks. please reply asap yea. I need it for my portfolio. thank you! |

Why not measure the dimensions off your presentation board image using a scale ruler? It will probably be more accurate than importing a small JPEG into a computer programme and scaling it up by an unknown factor.
Have you also lost the images you used to make the presentation board? |

Few things, if you just need dimensions use a scale on the board. That's fastest and easiest.
If you want to recreate the drawings to edit, scan them in and bring them into Autodesk, not sketch-up. If you have and .edu email you can get most Autodesk products for free... students.autodesk.com
Now, you have CAD running... import the jpeg scan and place anywhere in model space. **hit enter after anything in quotes!!!** type 'imageframe' set to '1'. the image is now fully scale/crop/what ever ready. use scale by reference using a strait line with a known distance and trace away. |
