Yes we still need !

The need for more "space" for either commercial or residential is always needed.

The question I would post is "are GLASS building/high rises needed Smile

Maybe! People needing to be close together for communication purposes may have mattered a lot before 1990 but it has declined a lot since then.

The problem now is people producing and distributing too much BS.

Space is wasted with sprawl and bad design in the US. The population density is 8 times as much in the UK. Americans just operate on a wasteful paradigm.

skyscrapers are just one of many building types, do we need warehouses?, two story houses?, one story structures?, underground structures?, skyscrapers are not a matter of necessity they are part of the environment.

This is just a quick thought...

It's interesting that skyscrapers have become part of the culture of most large cities. Think about the skyline of Prague versus New York, for instance.

Skyscrapers can have an iconic presence...
