I'm an electrical engineer working on a 20,000 sf medical office and the architect is pursuing LEED certification via LEED CI. We've got a very old, very inefficient AHU feeding the area to be renovated and it's slated to remain.
This unit serves maybe a 200,000 sq foot area of which our 20,000 is a subset.
Must this unit be factored into my energy modeling? This will likely force us into replacing the unit only to meet the prerequisite. This won't happen, so we'll simply have to forgo certification.
Or is there some provision that affords us to keep this energy pig recognizing that it is not economically feasible to replace such a large piece of equipment under the budget of a relatively small one?
thanks,
Mike |
