*Originally posted in the students sub-forum, but I got no hits, and the deadline is approaching! My brain is literally fried!
I'm a total new user, and pretty new to Architecture. After getting a BA in graphic design, and a BS in Marketing- I couldn't find ANY jobs! I've always loved architecture, and figured I'd go back, get the classwork done & do something I'm passionate about!
Anyway- I've got about 3 years to my MArch Very Happy
So, enough with the intros- I'm having a terrible time on my current assignment and would love some ideas, and some discussion on what I should be going for.
My Objective: introducing tectonic, perceptual, & conceptual issues of architecture.
Project Practice: to identify two objects or fragments of objects that have distinct identities. THEN- Join the two objects in such a way that the original objects lose their identities and the new (composite) object that results from the jointing of the two original objects gains a new and unique identity of its own.
I'm really drawing blanks- I've been thinking on it for a few days now..
Thanks ! |

You are joking arent you? It sounds like you need a philosopher to help you say perhaps it's the paradox of design to have two blocks of a building to cancel each other out. |

That will be difficult to describe using the written word on an internet forum. And from your description this task is a basic introductory exercise to (most probably) lead into a more involved part of a project later on. Masters courses are generally focused on a more abstract research (through the means of design) and that is something you'll need to master, not be handed it out by other people.
Have you brainstormed a list of possible pairs of objects? |
